I wanted to make little Zoe a quilt for her dollies these were scraps of fabric left from making soft fabric baby booksI just knew some day I would find a use for them it made a cute little doll blanket

Todays traveling treats

Blueberry Muffins

1 3/4 cups flour1/2 cup sugar

3 tsp. baking powder1 cup milk

1/2 cup melted butter1 egg

1/2 tsp. salt1 cup frozen blueberries

Stir together dry ingredients and add frozen blueberries

Combine milk and melted butter and stir into flour mixture and blueberries stir just to moisten Do not beat

Bake 375 for 20 min.

For a nice flavour add the grated rind of 1orange or lemon

This pattern is by Rosemary Makhan Woodland Creatures I think I will hand quilt this one

This top still has to be quilted it was made with 2 1/2 inch strips

I found these little floral scraps hiding in my scrap box just wanted a small project for today 

Cranberry Muffins

When my Husband and Daughter go traveling they like to have some traveling treats  here are todays traveling treats                                                                             Cranberry Orange Muffins

2cups flour 3/4 cup sugar

1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup cranberries

1 egg 3/4 cup orange juice

1/4 cup veg. oil 1 tsp. grated orange rind

Combine dry ingredients stir in cranberries.Beategg, orange juice, oil and orange rind add to dry ingredients all at once stir just to moisten spoon into greased muffin tins

sprinkle tops lightly with a bit of sugar Bake at 400 for 17 to 20 min.tilllightly browned and firm to touch                                                                                                                                 

 

Baby Quilt

This baby quilt has poo bear blocks that are sashed with pale green check cotton and backed with yellow polka dot flannel for warmth

Ok back to the scrappy quilt I have 22 blocks done now moving right along going to do 42 I think 6 by 7 will make about 72 by 84 inches or close to that depends on my seams lol

Applique Quilts

Today it's kind of a crappy day out some rain some snow good sewing room day well actually any day is a good  sewing day.  I thought I would show off some of my applique quilts that I have made over the years 

Valentine Cookies

Its time to make some Valentine cookies I use this recipe for all my cookie cut outs today I used only 1/2 recipe it made over 3 doz.

Scotch Shortbread

1 lb butter

1 cup brown sugar

5 cups flour

Measure all ingredients in large bowl work with hands until butter is all blended into the sugar and flour.This takes at least 5 min.of steady working. Turn out on lightly floured board.Knead and press until you can force it to hold together from the warmth of your palms. Roll to1\2 inch thick cut into shapes. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 min. till lightly browned( I roll mine between 2 pieces of parchment paper saves a lot of mess )

My Scrap Quilt

I am a fabric scrap saver right now I am using up 1 1/2 inch squares and 1 1/2 strips to make this scrappy block starting out with 16, 1 1/2 inch sq. for centre.Join1 1/2  strips on the diagonal and sew around log cabin style I put 4 round that made 12 1/2 inch block ,not sure I might quilt as you go these
